Why We're Here
Our 200H Yoga Teacher Training Programme can be best described using the metaphor of a tree.
The roots represent our desire to pay homage to the practice that has in many ways served us physically, mentally and energetically. We want to strengthen the roots of yoga through the lens of de-colonisation, anti-racism and self-inquiry, and to honour its histories respectfully and with care.
The trunk of the tree represents our core areas of study and inquiry: mind, body, spirit.
What extends from the core areas are the thick strong branches representing the 8 limbs of yoga, from which smaller branches emerge to represent the key study areas, for example, under Asana we will look at history of the postures, anatomy and physiology, and the different groups of asanas like twists, backbends, standing balances, etc.
From these branches we will have the leaves and foliage of the tree which gives its eventual shape. The canopy represents for us the teaching skillsets we will need to embody to move from practitioner to facilitator. The canopy is balanced in its width and density and is an outward expression of applied knowledge. In this canopy, we have the topics of ethics and professional development, as well as teaching methodologies and sequencing.

She holds several yoga certifications in Hatha Yoga, Yin Yoga, Forrest Yoga, Pre/Post-natal Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Well-Woman Yoga & Therapy, Trauma-Sensitive Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and Kids & Family Yoga. Outside of yoga, Dewi is also trained as a Barefoot Training Specialist® and BARE® workout instructor.
Drawing inspiration from her own experiences and her love for applied physiology, Dewi is a trained manual therapist and bodyworker, with certifications in Sports Massage Therapy and Clinical Orthopedic Manual Therapy (COMT). Passionate about supporting birthing families, she is also certified Birth & Postpartum doula (DONA International), Spinning Babies® Certified Parent Educator, and Evidence Based Birth® Instructor. She is also a Body Ready Method Pro, Girls Gone Strong Certified Prenatal and Postnatal Coach, and VBAC certified doula. Whether she is in the studio teaching movement or in a bodywork session, she hopes to empower her clients to see themselves as intelligent, fascinating and strong.
Jennifer Tan (she/her) has been in education of various kinds for the past 18 years, from more academic settings, to CrossFit coaching and Yoga teacher training from a more movement-focused angle. Specific to yoga and over the years, she has taught various styles (Hatha, Yoga for Athletes, Chair Yoga, Gentle, Power, etc.), eventually developing a more specialised interest in Restorative Yoga; this has nourished Jen’s seven-year-long (and counting) relationship with her teacher, Judith Hanson Lasater, who she assists during both in-person and online trainings.
Complementary to her yoga trainings and teaching years lies her experience in curriculum development and interest in other movement modalities, which have culminated in the co-writing/leading of a 200h Yoga Teacher Training, the writing/leading of a 50h Restorative Yoga Teacher Training, and certifications in the likes of myofascial release work and Functional Range Conditioning, respectively.
Regardless of style, all of Jen’s classes are invitational and curiosity-driven, with the hope of finding ways to move our bodies with confidence and compassion.
