Following the closing of Terra Luna Yoga's doors, it only made sense that the two lead teachers embark upon a new project together. For the past five years, Dewi and Jen have nurtured a community within the yoga and movement world that not only respects and understands the need for something different, but also wants to see a shift in how we experience our practices. From this period of challenging yet necessary transition comes Centred Space: a way of moving towards one's greater Self and into community, simultaneously.

Centred Space

Over the years, it has become apparent that the most nourishing experiences come from classes of longer durations, smaller group sizes, and offerings that go beyond asana-only focal points and dogmatic teachings. This willingness to change as community needs evolve is what has led to the gradual and now fuller shift to mixed gender offerings and an unambiguous stance on what matters in the wider world; if yoga is to lead us towards liberation, then the offerings of Centred Space must reflect the collective nature of the freedom we are seeking. Centred Space brings all of this via trainings, immersive programmes and tailored one-to-one sessions.

Our Philosophy

We are interested in creating more collaborative ways of learning and working, be it through teaching approaches, working with other studios, or the inquiry-based way in which we encourage people to experience the practice.

Being attuned is crucial and works in multi-faceted ways, from offering bespoke practice experiences, to finding ways in which to harmonise people’s needs and wants, to recognising our own strengths as educators and leaning into said strengths.

We are committed to creating a community-focused environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to contribute to the collective growth and success, so as to make our world one that we can proud of for years to come.

Jennifer Tan (she/her) has been in education of various kinds for the past 18 years, from more academic settings, to CrossFit coaching and Yoga teacher training from a more movement-focused angle. Specific to yoga and over the years, she has taught various styles (Hatha, Yoga for Athletes, Chair Yoga, Gentle, Power, etc.), eventually developing a more specialised interest in Restorative Yoga; this has nourished Jen’s seven-year-long (and counting) relationship with her teacher, Judith Hanson Lasater, who she assists during both in-person and online trainings.

Complementary to her yoga trainings and teaching years lies her experience in curriculum development and interest in other movement modalities, which have culminated in the co-writing/leading of a 200h Yoga Teacher Training, the writing/leading of a 50h Restorative Yoga Teacher Training, and certifications in the likes of myofascial release work and Functional Range Conditioning, respectively.

Regardless of style, all of Jen’s classes are invitational and curiosity-driven, with the hope of finding ways to move our bodies with confidence and compassion.
